Design & Research
Our latest design and research interests are directed to the Lappset Group’s fitness exercise park.
From the beginning of 2007 Lappset Group initiated the large-scale Eureka research and development project named Dynamic Garden, managed by Lappset and co-financed by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes). The intention of the project is to produce a fitness and outdoor exercise park, available for all, suitable for people of all ages, and enhanced with technology.

Our other design and research interests include visual communication, experiences, playful interactive environments, image databases, image retrieval, and electronic publishing.
Our designer and principal research scientist Veli-Pekka Räty received his Doctor of Arts degree in Art and Design from the Department of Graphic Design of the University of Art and Design in Helsinki in 1999. His doctoral dissertation called ‘Games Playing’ examined visual communication in computer games for children.
After his dissertation Veli-Pekka returned back to VTT Information Technology. He designed e.g. new kinds of spatial and bodily user interfaces in the ‘Virtual Space’ project in 1999–2001. One result of the project was a group game which was played using body movements only.
He co-founded Three Images in 2003 where continues his design and research.
